Busy Girl Breakfast - You DO have time!

Updated: Jun 15, 2020

When it comes to deliciousness, breakfast is at the top of my list, but ranks low on convenience. I just don't have time rushing in the morning to get in my workout, get the kids ready, the dog fed, lunches packed and sit down to a freshly made meal let alone, BREATHE. Her enters my go-to meal in a cup - Fab Four Smoothies. Made with the correct ingredients, smoothies are a great meal replacement while still getting the essential vitamins and nutrients that your body needs? When holistic nutritionist Kelly LeVeque first introduced us to her Be Well Smoothie and the formula behind it, we knew we were hooked for good! I mean come on - eating to reduce hunger hormones (?!), talk about droppin' a whole new level of knowledge bombs!

So what does the perfect smoothie meal consist of? Lucky for us, Kelly has broken down the ideal smoothie into exact ingredients, making our lives a whole lot easier! The trick behind a meal replacement smoothie is ensuring that it’s chock-full of healthy fats, protein and fiber so that you aren’t left hungry after you take your last sip. Over the years, one mishap that we’ve found ourselves making is adding too much fruit to our smoothies. While consuming fruit is part of your dietary needs, too much fruit will spike blood sugar perpetuating the sugar craving cycle. Not to mention you’re going to be hungry soon after if your smoothie is chock full of just fruits and greens. Ever since I tested this theory out myself, I have vowed to stick to no more than ½ cup of fruit per smoothie. Now that you’re more aware of what your smoothie should and should not consist of, here’s Kelly’s perfectly calculated formula for her Be Well Smoothie that will keep you full long after your last sip:

FAB FOUR SMOOTHIE

The Fab Four Smoothie is a formula to help you develop a blood sugar balancing meal replacement shake in any flavor with enough protein, fat and fiber to keep you full. Many juice shops, grocery smoothie bars and smoothie recipes are loaded with sugar, specifically fructose sugar from excess fruit.Fructose sugar stores as fat 20-30% faster than glucose.

The #fab4smoothie limits fructose to 1/4 cup!

#FAB4Smoothie : Protein (20g min) + Fiber (10g min) + 1 Tbsp. Fat + Handful Greens +

1/4 Cup Fruit + Superfoods + Liquid

As you can see from this formula, there’s a lot of room to create a smoothie fit to your taste buds. Some of our personal favorite Be Well Smoothies include the signature Spa Smoothie, Dark Chocolate Sea Salt, Strawberry Basil, Lemon Cookie, and Peanut Butter Cacao Nib smoothies.
